What has happened to the Concrete Polishing Industry?

I have been in the natural stone restoration and concrete polishing industry for about 15 years now, and over the past several years I have seen more concrete jobs that claim they are diamond polished only to find out that they are Guards caked on the floor to hide the fact that all the contractor did was grind (maybe up to 120 grit) the concrete with diamonds, then cake the Guard to hide scratches and produce a sacrificial shine. The contractor did not refine the scratches through proper honing and polishing steps. So a couple of months go by, baam..... NO SHINE, NO COLOR & ALOT OF SCRATCHES!

What is the definition of diamond polishing to you?

Has the industry turned to what happened in the natural stone industry with everyone cutting corners and providing a cheaper alternative by crystallizing floors?

How can we as a industry protect the quality that I know some companies out there are doing, before it's to late?
